How to Use the Online Notepad

Open any note tab
Click any tab at the top to switch to that note. Click the + icon to create a new note. Your first note is created automatically and auto-saved.

Format your text with the toolbar
Use the formatting toolbar to apply Bold (Ctrl+B), Italic (Ctrl+I), strikethrough, code, blockquote, bullet lists, numbered lists, and text alignment. All formatting is WYSIWYG — you see the result immediately.

Use Find & Replace (Ctrl+F)
Open the Find & Replace bar to search for text within your note and replace it. The match count updates as you type.

Enter Focus Mode for distraction-free writing
Click the fullscreen icon in the top-right to enter Focus Mode — a clean, full-screen writing environment. Press Esc to return.

Click the download icon and choose .txt (plain text), .md (Markdown), or .html (formatted). Your note's content exports immediately with no signup required.

Yes. Notes are auto-saved to your browser's localStorage every 300ms. They persist across browser restarts and page refreshes. However, clearing your browser data (cookies/site data) will delete them. Export important notes as files for long-term storage.
How many notes can I create?
There is no hard limit set by the app. The practical limit is your browser's localStorage quota (typically 5–10MB per origin depending on the browser). For typical text notes, this is more than sufficient for hundreds of notes.
Can I use the notepad offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the notepad works completely offline. All saving, formatting, and editing functions are client-side and do not require an internet connection. Your notes remain accessible even without a connection.
What does rich text export to HTML look like?
The HTML export produces a complete, self-contained HTML file with your title as an <h1>, all formatted content (bold, lists, blockquotes, code) rendered as standard HTML elements, and embedded CSS styling for code blocks and blockquotes. The file opens correctly in any browser.
Is there a word or character limit?
No. The notepad has no enforced word or character limit. Extremely large notes (millions of characters) may slow down the browser, but for typical note-taking use — even lengthy documents — there are no restrictions.
